JoAnne Wingrove
1945-2025
JoAnne Wingrove, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025. She was joyfully reunited in heaven with her husband Les and her son Trevor, where they will live together in eternal peace. She also joins her parents Harue (Winnie) and Sataro (Tom) Taguchi; her sisters-in-law Sally Critchley and Marylyn Wingrove; and her in-laws, Mary (Mae) and Leslie (Art) Wingrove.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but especially her son Craig; her daughters in-law Alexandra and Libby; and her cherished grandchildren Meghan, Emma, and Will. JoAnne also leaves behind her brothers, Ivan Taguchi (Cobie) and Sonny Taguchi (Chieko); her sister Eileen Kitamura (Paul); and her brothers-in-law, Bob Wingrove and Derek Critchley (Irma). She adored her 14 nieces and nephews and 18 great-nieces and nephews—each of whom held a special place in her heart.
JoAnne was one of the most dependable people you could ever meet. She was the life of the party, and her infectious laugh and quick wit brought joy wherever she went. For more than 50 years, she worked at Riverview Hospital and Colony Farm as a registered psychiatric nurse, serving her community with compassion, dedication, and deep care for those who could not always help themselves.
Behind the scenes, JoAnne was the quiet force supporting Les and thousands of young athletes at Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse and the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs in their early years. She was a proud Coquitlam resident—proud of her home, her garden, and the life she and Les built for their sons on Regan Avenue.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Paul Stygall for all his love and support during JoAnne’s declining health. His care, along with the kindness of neighbours, family, and friends, allowed her to remain in her home. Special thanks also to Eagle Ridge Hospital, Bayshore Health, and McKenney Creek Hospice for their patience and perseverance in supporting JoAnne in her final months.
A Celebration of Life was held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wingrove Family Fund c/o the Coquitlam Foundation. See donate button and QR code below.
